Antique P&A Plume & Atwood Kerosene Oil Lamp Base Hand Painted Floral USA. This lovely floral oil/kerosene lamp base is by the USA company from Waterbury, Connecticut called Plume & Atwood. They have specialized in old brass and metal lamps and hand painted glass bases etc since early 1800’s. This lamp appears to be circa late 1800’s to early 1900’s. It also appears to be all original. Another item from Country Artifacts, Great Northern Liquidation, Springfield, Vermont. Including the shade and chimney: 20-1/2″ high x 9-1/2″ diameter. Excluding the shade and chimney and spider: 12″ high x 6″ diameter. Nickel plated embossed brass construction, removable spider (the holder for the glass), center draft burner with wick and flame spreader marked ROYAL P A, PAT APR. The wick adjustment knob is marked MADE IN U. The burner adjusts the wick up and down and seems to be in working order. A new wick is probably needed for this lamp, even if you can get a bit of use out of the old one. Physical condition of the lamp is good, with just a couple of small nicks to the font as shown, plus the wear to finish as shown in the pictures. The glass is very good. Unpacked weight & size: 3.2, 20.5×9.5×9.5. Packed weight & size: 8, 24x12x12. Package Notes & Ref: 5H8. I moved the main photo of multiple lamps to the last photo so it would be easier to see what each listing is offering. Listing # 7 of 7 separate listings. All the lamps in the first photo have been listed individually. If one of the listings 1>7 is missing then I have no more of that one to offer. Some of the lamps have a second matching lamp that was available at the time of the original listing. This lamp like all of the others is from my personal collection. It is pictured on page 107 figure 203 of the Smith miniature lamp book. It was originally only made in milk glass but was made again by at least 3 companies in multiple colors. The red cased glass lamp and the green cased glass lamp seem to be the two hardest colors to come by. Check in often to see any new listing of miniature and some larger oil lamps. See and enlarge the pictures as they are a large part of the description. There are no chips cracks or repairs to any of the parts. It is a very nice example of this lamp. There are “no” rough edges on the shade top or fitter edges. The burner is a Plume and Atwood1877 burner. The shade holder fits well.. The current wick is old but in good usable condition. The lamp is 7 high to the top of the shade. The shade is 2 3/4″ high, approximately 4 3/4″ wide across at the widest point. The fitter is 4 inches wide. The base font is approximately 3 ” to the top of the collar, approximately 4 3/4″ wide. The base bottom is 3 wide. The Chimney is 3 3/4″ tall with a 1 1/8″ fitter. Made in the USA. Finish on the lamp and hanging wall mount both are in rough condition. Inside of lamp shows some rust and looks to have melted metal in the bottom to make it heavy so it will swing. Lamp measures 8-1/4″ tall, middle measures 4-1/2″, bottom measures 2-1/2. Wall mount measures 6″ from the base to the hanger end, base that mounts to the wall measures 4″ round, width of the arms from outside to outside is 5-3/4. Measurement with lamp in the hanger from wall mount base to the front of the lamp is 7-3/8. Knob on the lamp does move the wick up and down about an inch of travel before it stops. Beautiful Victorian era oil lamp. Gone with the Wind style parlor lamp. Shade is most likely not original. Lamp is NOT converted to electric and is in original oil burning state. The dual wick burner is made by P&A Manufacturing. The wick raiser knob is stamped The P& A Manufacturing Co. There do not appear to be any other markings. All components appear to be functional, although the lamp has not been lit to test. The wick is new. The base of the lamp is hand painted a floral pattern. Condition of the glass is excellent. The burner appears to be brass. It shows a nice patina for age. It has not been cleaned or altered from it’s current state. The cast iron base is ornate and shows a beautiful patina. The base has not been cleaned – see pictures. The oil lamp is approximately 19 tall with chimney.
