This was a stunning lamp at one time. Unfortunately, in transporting it from a relative’s home in Brooklyn, it had the misfortune of tipping over. See the last picture and you will see that the broken finial, made of pot metal, is more than likely beyond repair. However, for the purpose of repurposing or refurbishing, this lamp has some truly beautiful components. The rectangular cubic marble base measures 4″ x 4″ at almost 4 1/2 inches in height. The marble column which sits on a piece of metal above it, and measures approximately 11.5. Two pieces of marble combined weight about 8.5 pounds! The marble block has some stains on the bottom, and a shallow chip on one corner. It also has several scratches, and a few flea bites. The metal/brass colored base is in good overall condition, but it appears that there was some defect in the manufacturing process on the on the underside; however, if you look at the pictures, you will see that this could all be completely covered with green felt or any color felt you choose. Polishing near the top, the portion not covered by the marble may be needed. However, the decorative outer border – not the vertical but the transitional border between the vertical plane and the horizontal plane – has a beautiful patina. The square brass tone metal plate that goes on top of the marble block is marked GH or possibly GHM followed by 431. Also, there are markings on the interior portions of at least two of the candle stick holders. There is a lovely 6 inch metal finial piece that I believe goes on top of the marble columns. There was also a small finial. Approximately 1 inch in height which could be used perhaps beneath the base in lieu of the larger damaged piece. This will require purchasing a new interior shaft for the lamp or cutting this one down and rethreading one end. That actually is probably a good idea as one end. The end that took the brunt of the force when the lamp fell is bent at about 10 or 15°; this piece is also rusty. Some of the small components have rust. The candelabra pieces look like they are in very good condition just a few tiny scratches and maybe some flea bites. The “fake” candle holders interconnect to create a four sided candelabra effect. Total width of these pieces is about 12 inches. I may actually combine these pieces with a marble table-lamp combination where the marble table is about to 2.5 to. 3 feet in diameter and is supported by nine goddesses 3 groups of 3 -similar to my Goddess table which has one goddess at each of the three points.
