As savvy collectors know, these USFS lanterns are very sought-after and desirable relics from the Golden Age of Coleman. These lanterns provided light and cheer to a generation of seriously tough Forest Service rangers. Long before the advent of the Internet, cellphones, and X-rated videos, it was a lonely life indeed for the intrepid men of the Forest Service. These lanterns were likely their only comfort as they whiled away long nights perched high above the treetops, or hacking away at smoldering brush. Ranger hats off to them and their storied legacy!
